Retreat 2011
Hippies, Housewives, Heroes, Hula dancers and a Harlequin took over retreat in February 2011. In fact…anyone beginning with the letter “H” was able to join the party…plus a few others who just came as themselves.

Party at Joan’s place
Joan kindly hosted chorus members round at her place for dinner and socialising. Naturally the piano and singing were involved. Everyone had a great night.

Hamilton Convention
Hamilton Convention a real Winner!!
Regional contest 2008 was especially exciting for Capital Harmony, not only because we were competing with two brand new songs!
Preparation for the event had included a coaching weekend with Barbara Smith in February, work in front of the mirrors at the Tawa ballet school (thanks Hayley) and the creation of new chorus trousers during several working bees organised and run by the hardworking and multi-talented Pat Hammond. We’d also run a dress rehearsal concert at the Cashmere School Hall shortly before contest date. We’d even purloined a tenor from Wellington City Chorus for the occasion (thanks Veronica!)
Director Joanne and board member Christine flew up to Hamilton on Thursday. On Friday morning Hamilton was positively buried under a thick blanket of fog as Joanne walked up to the Founders Theatre for the briefing and text messages starting coming in just as thickly to say that the rest of the chorus were on later flights or coming via Rotorua.

Down the Hall on Saturday Night
Concert held on Saturday 3rd November 2007
“Down the Hall on Saturday Night” had something for everyone.
Capital Harmony Chorus revived the days of the dance hall in a show that truly had something for everyone.
Bishop Viard College, Porirua, became the Whykickamoocow Village Hall on Saturday, 3 November.
The large and enthusiastic audience was treated to acappella singing, award winning country music, Kiwiana skit with sing-along and the chance to dance to a jazz band.

Retreat 2007
Chorus held a successful retreat at the Bridge Lodge, Otaki, 3-4 March. We certainly worked hard on our singing techniques, with help from Hamilton-based coach Jill Rodgers.
But we also had a lot of fun. Saturday night’s theme was “kiwi cowgirls” and everyone proved they’re closet country girls, dressing to the theme in style. We had a great evening, concluding with attempts to line-dance to video tapes!
It was a great weekend to get to know each other (including newer members) and to improve chorus cohesion.
